For those who don’t know, Banksy is an anonymous graffiti artist who’s work is viewed by hundreds if not thousands of people. Whilst some may argue that the work of Banksy is nothing more than common place graffiti, I like to think of it as art, after all some of Banksy’s creations prove to be iconic with hidden messages.

The picture above for me is a poke at the government with possible references to George Orwell’s 1984 in which Big Brother is watching you. The fact that Banksy managed to create this piece of work under the watchful eye of the CCTV cameras only strengthens the feeling that you are no longer free and everything about who you are and what you do is carefully observed.

Above is the homeless man who wants change, but not in the form of money. Yet another poke at the government and their inability to make a positive difference. It can be tied in with the picture below, created in Palestine which depicts a fantasy in which many Palestinians would rather have instead of the reality they live in.

A strong political message to be gained from the pictures above defiantly gives you something to think about. If you are interested by the work shown above then have a look at both the Banksy Website and the book Banksy – Wall and Piece.
